OLD MAPS OF WATFORD
AREA AND BRANCH LINES

The Watford to Rickmansworth Branch Line which opened in 1862 served several factories and mills as well as providing passenger services to the terminal station at Church Street in Rickmansworth.

One of the major customers on the branch line was Croxley Paper Mills owned by John Dickinsons.

Croxley Mills opened in 1830 and had its own quite large sidings off of the Rickmansworth Branch Line.

The Mill had its own 'fireless' shunting engines, to avoid fires within the mill, the engines were charged with steam from the factory.
